# Shopify order limits FAQ: quantity, members and repeats

> Find answers about minimums, variants, pack multiples, customer tags, prices, weight, shipping and cumulative resets before choosing a limit recipe.

When using Order Limit, distinguish single-cart limits, buying eligibility and recorded purchase history. These answers clarify commonly confused settings.

> **Is a per-order limit a lifetime customer limit?**
>
> No. Ordinary quantity rules check the current cart. For repeat purchases, use [cumulative rules](https://order-limit.xrtotech.com/en/features/purchase-history.md) and add a separate first-order quantity cap.

> **Can I require multiples of 6?**
>
> The current editor has minimum, maximum and calculation settings, but no step or multiple setting. A minimum of 6 allows 7.

> **Why can a customer add 1 unit when the minimum is 6?**
>
> Quantity minimums check at checkout so customers can build the cart incrementally.

> **Do different colors count together?**
>
> Product settings and individual quantity rules combine variants of the same product. Variant settings check separately. Use combined calculation to share an allowance across different products.

> **Must customers match every listed tag?**
>
> No. Any one listed tag is a match. An allowlist lets customers buy when at least one required tag matches.

> **Will customer restrictions hide products or prices?**
>
> No. They check buying eligibility, not product visibility or page access.

> **Do weight rules set shipping fees or split packages?**
>
> No. They only check applicable merchandise weight. Configure packaging, shipping charges and fulfillment separately.

> **Do amount thresholds use compare-at prices?**
>
> No. They use current applicable cart line amounts, with thresholds entered in the shop’s base currency. See [price calculation](https://order-limit.xrtotech.com/en/features/price.md).

> **Can I reset customer allowances daily or monthly?**
>
> The current cumulative rule has no time window or scheduled reset. Do not use it to promise daily or monthly allowances.

> **Are delivery, payment method or bundle restrictions available?**
>
> This manual documents the verified quantity, price, weight and customer features. It does not present delivery methods, payment methods, page access or bundle rules as existing app features.

> **Why check switches after saving a rule?**
>
> Saving, active status, category switches and validation are separate checks. Quantity rules also need **购物车与结账校验**. Follow the complete [quickstart](https://order-limit.xrtotech.com/en/quickstart.md).

> **How do I pause a rule temporarily?**
>
> Choose **草稿** and click **保存为草稿**. Restore with **已启用** and save. Product and variant table rows use **限制状态**. See [pause and restore](https://order-limit.xrtotech.com/en/getting-started/launch-checklist.md).

> **Do all customers need a VIP tag just to sign in?**
>
> No. Leave customer tags empty and enable **需要客户账户登录**. Follow [require sign-in](https://order-limit.xrtotech.com/en/scenarios/login-required.md).

> **Does a collection minimum force customers to buy it?**
>
> No. A scoped rule checks only when the cart contains matching items. Also test a cart with unrelated products only.

> **Does changing the help center language translate store messages?**
>
> No. Configure each category's customer messages separately, then test storefront or checkout language. See [messages and languages](https://order-limit.xrtotech.com/en/settings/messages.md).

For configuration issues, follow [troubleshooting](https://order-limit.xrtotech.com/en/troubleshooting/rules-not-working.md).

Unsure which limit fits? Start with [choose a rule](https://order-limit.xrtotech.com/en/getting-started/choose-rule.md), then use the [launch checklist](https://order-limit.xrtotech.com/en/getting-started/launch-checklist.md).
